Charles W. Lane

After graduating from law school, Charles worked in a three-lawyer general practice law firm in southwest Georgia, which represented individual clients in a variety of civil, probate, real estate and criminal matters, as well as representing numerous commercial and business clients, including local banks.

In 1983, Charles began working for the Law Offices of Oliver B. Dickens, Jr & Associates in Atlanta. Dickens & Associates was Traveler’s Insurance Company’s in-house legal counsel and the pioneer for insurance company in-house law firms in Georgia. As in-house counsel, the firm handled the defense of lawsuits against Travelers’ policyholders, which included claims arising out of automobile wrecks, premises liability injuries, property damage claims, fire loss claims, asbestos defense and numerous other tort-related litigation claims.

In 1984, Charles started a private practice in Cobb County, focusing on personal injury, premises liability, general civil and commercial litigation, felony and misdemeanor criminal cases, traffic and D.U.I cases, divorce and domestic relations matters.

As a trial lawyer, Charles has participated as lead or co-counsel in more than 100 jury trials in state and federal court, including personal injury, premises liability, commercial litigation, divorce, felony and misdemeanor criminal offenses and D.U.I. cases. In addition to more than 100 jury trials, Charles has litigated substantially more nonjury and bench trials involving the same areas of law. As an appellate attorney, Charles has reported appellate decisions from the Georgia Court of Appeals and Georgia Supreme Court in personal injury cases, including slip & fall and sexual assault, insurance coverage disputes, felony and misdemeanor criminal cases and divorces.

Charles is a member of the following: State Bar of Georgia; Cobb County Bar Association; Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers; Tort and Insurance, General Practice and Trial, Criminal Law and Family Law Sections of the State Bar. He was president of the Cobb County Trial Lawyers Association in 1987-1988 and served the Cobb County Bar Association as Law Day Chairman, Program Chairman, Treasurer and on the Board of Trustees.

Charles is admitted to practice in all Georgia courts, the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Georgia Supreme Court, United States District Court - Northern District of Georgia, U. S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Elizabeth V. Lane

Elizabeth is licensed to practice law in both Georgia and Florida. She is admitted in both state and federal courts.

In 1989 Elizabeth began her career as a third-year intern at the Public Defender's Office in Broward County, Florida. She was offered a job after graduation and began practicing in December 1989. Liz stayed in Florida for 5 years at the Public defender's Office. In 1995 she moved to Georgia and opened her own firm as a sole practitioner. Liz soon met her husband and current law partner Charles. They merged their practices to form Lane and Fein, P.C. in 1996. After their marriage the practice name was changed to Lane and Lane, P.C.

Elizabeth has extensive criminal and trial practice. In 1994 she was named Co-Felony Attorney of the Year at the Broward County Public Defender's Office. This award is given to the attorney who tries the most cases in one year. She also presided over Moot Court for a local law school in South Florida.

Since creating Lane and Lane, Elizabeth has become experienced in civil litigation as well as criminal litigation. She and Charles co-chair most trials including criminal, divorce, personal injury and federal cases.
